Greta’s Story

Against All Odds

Greta came to UF in December of 2021 and was diagnosed with a fracture of her radius and ulna in her right front leg. She was transferred to Surgical Oncology for amputation and was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. She entered Dr. Rowan Milner’s UF GD3 Vaccine for Osteosarcoma Clinical Trial with chemotherapy in January 2022 and had multiple visits between Medical Oncology and the Clinical Trials Team. She was one of our long-term survivors, beating the odds of osteosarcoma for 3+ years.

She also had Achilles tendon ruptures/repairs so had a brace and her mobility was managed with the help of the Integrative Medicine and Mobility Service. Unfortunately, Greta passed away at the age of 14, after developing a GDV in April 2025 and complications after surgery but had staged cancer free as of March of 2025.
