Dr. Milner oversees clinical trials held at the UF Veterinary Hospitals, as well as research that translates from human to veterinary medicine and vice-versa. He also works closely with clinician scientists and other researchers to help them meet their scientific goals.

Dr. Hernandez oversees the college’s PhD. and MS programs, represents the dean on the college’s graduate studies committee, serves as liaison to the Veterinary Graduate Student Association, and works with the associate dean for research and graduate studies to facilitate college-wide and departmental efforts to recruit and train graduate students. He also represents college graduate programs at the Health Science Center and campuswide.

Ms. Rubinstein implements and coordinates all matters pertaining to graduate administrative policies and procedures in Veterinary Medical Sciences. Sara maintains course scheduling and curriculum operations, including admissions, course creation & registration, drop/adds, tuition payment, grade entries and degree certification. She oversees the college’s Graduate Student events including the annual Research Celebration & Phi Zeta Day, Graduate Student Orientation, Graduate Student Recognition Ceremony and MS/PhD Commencement Ceremonies. She acts as a liaison to college’s Graduate Studies Committee, Veterinary Graduate Student Association and to the UF President’s Office and provides administrative support to the Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Studies and the Director of Graduate Education.

As the CVM’s Research Administration team leader, Ms. Blalock oversees the workflow within the office and assigns particular projects as needed.  In addition, Ms. Blalock carries a portfolio of faculty to help prepare proposals, review grant applications and award notifications.  Along with the associate dean of research and graduate studies, she approves completed proposals for submission to DSP.  Working with faculty and staff on awards, she obtains compliance approvals before setting up accounts for newly awarded grants.  Ms. Blalock assists with oversight of USDA Animal Funds and co-manages the budget for the office.

Ms. Phillips assists on the pre-award side for both the Department of Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine and the Department of Physiological Sciences. Ms. Phillips assists CVM faculty with their grant-related proposal applications to institutions including NIH, NSF, and USDA. Ms. Phillips also manages CVM’s internal awards with the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. Ms. Phillips’s research administration career began on the post-award side at George Mason University in Virginia, and continued at the University of Florida College of Engineering prior to joining the ORGS pre-award team in the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2020.

As part of both the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and the Academic Health Center, Veterinary Medicine is dedicated to advancing animal, human and environmental health through teaching, research, extension and patient care.
