Environmental Safety & Compliance
CVM's Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Officer works closely with the college's Associate Dean of Research, department chairs, PIs and lab staff to provide day-to-day lab operation and compliance support.
ESCO Services
The College of Veterinary Medicine’s Environmental Safety & Compliance Officer provides on-site basic research lab support for research laboratories with designated lab space to streamline safety compliance and assist researchers with safety-related needs. UF Environmental Health & Safety provides technical expertise, professional services, training and regulatory oversight to all laboratories and research spaces at UF, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure a safe working environment for all.
Building a safety culture is a collective responsibility that involves commitment and involvement at all levels.

- On-site or Zoom consultations
- Pre- and post-safety survey guidance
- Lab closeout relocation
- EH&S support for BioProject submissions
- Semi-annual compliance snapshot
- Help with Gator TRACS, LATCH, chemical inventory management and corrective actions
- Lab signage updates and new policy diffusion such as DEA-controlled substances with RX Destroyer
- Annual survey data analysis to identify departmental trends and potential risks
- New PI orientation sign-up
- Lab equipment decontamination guidance
