Graduate Assistantships

The UF College of Veterinary Medicine offers a limited number of graduate assistantships that cover stipend and tuition expenses.

Four-year Block Grants for PhD Students

CVM offers competitive four-year block grants for highly qualified PhD students. Block grants cover an annual stipend of $35,000 per year x 4 years plus tuition and student fees. Block grant recipients are appointed as graduate assistants with teaching assistant task responsibilities (in the DVM program and/or graduate program) and research assistant task responsibilities.

Master’s:Residency Program

New Residents who enroll in the CVM MS:Residency program in selected disciplines (anesthesiology, dermatology, ophthalmology, oncology, small animal surgery, large animal surgery, or food animal medicine and reproduction) are appointed as graduate assistants in the first year of training (Master’s in Veterinary Medical Sciences). The appointment as graduate assistant includes teaching assistant task responsibilities in the DVM program. Registration Requirements for Graduate Assistants

MS:Residents: 9 credits in Fall/Spring semesters and 3 credits in Summer A

PhD: 9 credits in Fall/Spring semesters and 6 credits in Summer (Summer A+B, A+C, B+C, or C).

All graduate assistants must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA as a student.
