Research Interests

I am a second year graduate student in the College of Medicine’s Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences. I did my undergraduate studies at UF and worked in the Department of Surgery investigating autophagy in liver ischemia reperfusion injury. During my master’s, I studied the role of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-12 and IL-18 in the pathogenesis of Type 1 Diabetes with a focus on the relationship of NK and regulatory T cells. After I completed my thesis, I wanted to apply the knowledge I gained about the immune system to the rapidly expanding field of cancer immunotherapy. In Dr. Zhou’s lab, I investigate the role of aryl hydrocarbon receptor in anti-tumor immunity. I am married to a fellow graduate student and together we have two dogs, Bella and Luna. Outside of work, I like to canoe, play the drums, and hike with my dogs.
